When Solaris 2.4 boots into multi-user mode it runs all of the scripts
in the /etc/rc2.d directory that start with a S. They are run in alpha
order. They get run with a argument of 'start' or 'stop' depending on
whether the system is going up or down.
You can add a script to automatically start informix. Ours is called
S98informix_start which with permission is reproduced as under;
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
#!/bin/sh
# Script to start or stop Informix Online on system startup and shutdown.
#
case $1 in
'start') echo "Starting Informix Online."
/home/informix/startup/startonline;;
'stop') echo "Stopping Informix Online."
/home/informix/startup/stoponline;;
*) echo "usage: /etc/rc2.d/nwserver {start|stop}" ;;
esac
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
This script is owned and run by root.
The scripts in the /home/informix/startup directory
set the environment and start and atop informix as appropriate.
The start script also resets permissions on the raw partitions
as these come up as owned by root.
