Hello All, Looks like emails to the ids group is not being delivered. I would like to know what would be the complications comparing Integer Vs Serial Datatype in a join. We have six such join condition and the table has over 10 million rows. The current query takes about 15 mins to run. If we compare Serial Vs Serial column will the query process faster. SERIAL is the same type as INT it just has the special property of generating the next number when zero is inserted and not permitting updates. Similarly SERIAL8 is the same type as INT8 and BIGSERIAL is the same type as BIGINT. There will be no difference in joins between using INT<-->SERIAL versus INT<-->INT BTW, your previous posts went through. Didn't think there were useful responses to your other posts. ;-( Art Art S.
