I sa this exact same error on Version 5.0 for Sun -> Compiled 4GL!
It was a known bug (actually after we reported it it was a known bug).
The other famous bug I saw on the same version was the following:
Insert into table values (1)
insert into table values (2).
.
.
insert into table values (500)
That statement 500 times with a one column (or many columns it did not
matter) in succession. The 257th row would get a "1" in it, 258th row
got a "2" in it (are you getting the pciture). If you have a unique index
on the column, it blew on the 257th insert.
