Problem with Viewpoint
Unix Server Spec :- Hardware : Sun Sparcstation 2 Software : SunOS 4.1.2 Informix SQL V4.10.UC1 Informix 4GL V4.10.UC1 Informix SE V4.10.UC2 Informix I-NET V5.02.UC1 PC Spec :- Hardware : Gateway 486DX 33 8Mb Mem etc... Software : DOS V6.2 Windows V3.11 for workgroups PC/TCP V2.3 Informix I-NET PC V4.10 for DOS Informix Viewpoint V1.0 Informix DBA V1.0 I have recently take delivery of a copy of Informix Viewpoint V1.0 but can not make it work ! I have installed the 3 informix products on the PC as per the installation guide, but when I run Viewpoint or DBA there are no databases available for selection (despite previously setting DBPATH). If I then choose "create database" using DBA i get "Unknown SQL error -457". I have run the sqlexecd on our unix server with the -l logfile option and the PC does not appear to ever connect to the unix server. Various network analysis packages suggest that the PC never even kicks out a single packet when the various Viewpoint buttons are prodded. 1) Have I done something wrong ? 2) Will my configuration work with MSwindows for workgroups ? 3) I know that Informix only officially supports their products with PC/TCP V2.2 or less, but does anyknow for definate that the above config will not work at all with V2.3. 4) Please Help !!!! -- Adam Middlemass (amm@booth.com) | Telephone : +44 532 832000 ext 2533 | Computer Development, Booth & Co.
