I'll assume you are running Online version 7, if you are running
version 5 then you will need to check your manuals for the
tbcheck command (I think the options are the same but I do not
have a verison 5 manual in front of me).
Look at the command oncheck in your Online Admin. Guide Volume 2
Page 40-9. I would run a overnight script from cron
which sets up your Informix environment variables (INFORMIXDIR,
INFORMIXSEVER, ONCONFIG etc.) and then does
oncheck -cr -n # Check reserved pages - no fix
oncheck -ce -n # Check extents - no fix
oncheck -cc <database name> # Check system catalogs for database
oncheck -cID <database name> # Check all pages in database
Note last line will read the whole database and so could take a
long time. You might want to only run it at weekends if it takes
too long.
Also oncheck/tbcheck stop people updating anything they are checking
by takes a shared lock out on them. All apart from the tbcheck -cID
should complete in a few minutes.
Standard Engine
---------------
Again setup your Informix environment variables (INFORMIXDIR, DBPATH
etc) then change to the database directory (the .dbs directory) and
do
bcheck -n *.dat *.idx
(Under version 7 is secheck rather then bcheck).
