How to set up dbaccess environment???

All: I have researched how to configure the dbaccess environment and have not found anything on this topic. My goal is to configure the dbaccess environment to accept the "Backspace" as designed instead of getting "^H" when the key is pressed and/or "^[[3~" for the "Delete" key. Does anyone have information on this? Thank you, Christopher
