Can anyone shed any light on this one, please?
System-1:
HP Vectra RS/25 386
SCO Unix 3.2.2
Informix SE v4.10 Development
Informix RDS v4.00 Development
System-2:
HP Vectra RS/25 386
SCO Unix 3.2.2
Informix SE v4.10 Development
Informix RDS v4.00 Runtime Facility only
Problem Outline:
A duplicate database exists on both systems. A database table
(order_det) exists with the first two columns as follows:
order_no : char(10)
line_no : char(2)
Indexes were created on these columns as follows:
create index order_det_ix1 on order_det (order_no)
create index order_det_ix2 on order_det (line_no)
After creating these indexes for the table, System-1 allows rows to be
selected and updates correctly. However, when attempting to access
rows from the table on System-2, a status 'NOTFOUND' is often returned
- although not every time - even when the row can be selected using
Informix ISQL v4.00
Also, when attempting to update a specific row identified by order_no
and line_no, either the row is not updated at all, or a different row
for the same order is updated. Again, this does not occur 100% of the
time.
Both systems are running the same RDS program. The only difference is
that System-1 uses Informix RDS Development and System-2 uses RDS
Runtime Facility only.
The same problem occurs if the two indexes are replaced by a single
index created as follows:
create unique index order_det_ix1 on order_det (order_no, line_no)
Without any index on the table, both systems function correctly.
This one has really got us all puzzled here. Your thought and suggestions
would be much appreciated.....so thanks in advance!
