Memory Usage

I want to allocate more memory to my Informix server, but I need some advice
on how to examine the current memory usage of the machine.
The machine runs an OLTP Informix database with approx 100 users, both the
client and the server applications run on the same machine.
I currently have 156Mb allocated as BUFFERS to IDS and I'd like to increase
this to 254Mb. I'm inclined to just do this as we ugraded the machine from
256Mb to 512Mb about a year ago, so even if I do allocate half of this to
IDS I've still got more left for the OS and Client apps than I had before,
but I'd like a more proffesional way of making this decision ;o)
Some possible usefull info;-

You don't explain why you want to increase the buffer size. Do you feel
that your cache rates are poor?
Your paging stats (at wide intervals) do not suggest a memory problem. Why
not gradually increase BUFFERS at monitor the read/write cache rates until
the increase no longer makes a difference? (This may in fact be after the
first increase).

With OLTP, the more BUFFERS, the merrier. I run 1GB in buffers and 1GB
virtual. A while back I had to reduce the buffers to 512 MB (which is way
more than the manual recommends) and had significant performance drops.
When we get the 64 bit machine, I hope to run 2-3GB in the buffers.
Oh, and the read/write cache rapes in 'onstat -p' didn't really change, just
overall system usage and query times (which translate to sales).
