He just took over the role of CTO for Information Management with the retirement of Don Haderle. He used to work with Illustra prior to the Informix purchase of Illustra. As CTO, his focus is on the global issues of Information Management. That means how all of the pieces of IBM Information Management work together. It is not on the specific issues dealing with IDS, DB2, IMS, II, VSAM, etc. Each of the systems has a lead architect who acts as a CTO for that system. Can't call him a CTO because they're not an officer of IBM Corp. However, they function as the CTO and are responsible for driving the technical strategy. The folks that are responsible for driving the Informix technical strategy were present at the conference in Atlanta.
