RE: IDS Runtime & IDS Development
Posted in 2000
Since moving to user-based pricing, there has been no differentiation of
runtime versus development for the IDS product. In fact, even while
Informix was selling the forerunner to IDS, Informix-OnLine, they were
reported to be the same code even though you paid less for the runtime
license. What you may find now is that there are different products (like
IDS, IDS Personal Edition and IDS for Workgroups) but this is not modelled
on the runtime versus development scheme (I think).
To determine the product version and serial number of the IDS product, run
the following as user informix:
$ oninit -V
To determine the product version and serial number of your I4GL (which is
the 4GL C-compiler product; as opposed to the R4GL which is the 4GL Rapid
Development System (RDS) product), run the following:
$ c4gl -V
If you do not have the c4gl program in $INFORMIXDIR/bin, then you may have
the runtime version of I4GL. I don't have the product, so I can't suggest a
command to run to get the version and serial number.
Hope this helps.

Subject: IDS Runtime & IDS Development
Hi All,
What are the differences between IDS Runtime & IDS Development?
How can I determine the type of IDS (Run / Dev)? I don't have License Info.
cards.
How can I find out the License S/N for I4GL Runtime?
Thanks,
Nick.
