I have this form being used in and ESQL/C program. The form is basically a perform screen form ... nothing special. There are alot of after editadd, on beginning, that sort of stuff that call C functions, etc. Pretty basic. The table the form is built from (a single table) is a Change Request table. Users can file change requests against a document that exists in the Document Description Table (this is a simplified description). Anyway, the change request can be filed against a document. OK so far?? The document is identified via two document numbers. One or the other or both of the numbers exist. Lets call them number1 and number2. They correspond to document number columns in the document description table. The idea is that the user enters one of the document numbers and the form is to use a lookup on the screen entry corresponding to the document number to retrieve a bunch of data from the document description table about the document and display it on the screen form. This works real well when the document number1 exists. No problem. The lookup built on this column is flawless. My problem crops up when document number1 does not exist and only document number2 exists. Then the lookup (now based on a NULL field value) doesn't retrieve anything (as it well shouldn't!). I want to be able to also base a lookup or something like it on both numbers and have it work regardless which number it is basing the lookup on. Get it? I can't put a lookup on both field values as Informix won't allow more than one lookup to fill a set of fields on the screen, so this ain't the answer. An after query instruction only seems to apply itself to the first record in the current list, so this doesn't seem to work either. If anyone has any suggestions short of rewriting the form itself, forward them to me. Email would be appropriate and I can post a summary if there's interest. If you have any need of further clarification of the above stated problem, feel free to write or call (303)541-6557. Thanks for reading this. Hope it's challenging enough for you to take an interest.
