If going from 6.05 to 7.2, it should be straight-forward. If going from 6.00 to 7.2, then there may be some problems, though it should still be relatively simple. > My current engine is Online 7.30 and I am wondering if anybody knows > of any problems that I might encounter? I would install the 7.2 I4GL in a separate INFORMIXDIR from the 7.30 IDS server. I'd simply ensure that the sqlhosts file in the I4GL INFORMIXDIR was the same as the sqlhosts in the IDS INFORMIXDIR, probably by making them into links. I would not try to install both products in the same directory. If someone was holding a gun to my head, I would either install I4GL 7.2 and then IDS 7.3 using the standard install techniques, or (much more likely) I'd create a composite INFORMIXDIR using the tools in the IIUG software archive under the heading utils_jl and I'd then install IDS before I4GL because those installation tools do not overwrite by default.
