Hi, 1. Is there any tool or options to do Tuning Performance of a DataBase / >Performance of an Informix Dynamic Server? >2. Generally, using fragmentation we can split the set of rows (while >loading into a table) and store it in different Dbspaces right? >This functionality is ok, if there is small set of data. But, if we are >trying to load large no. of data into a table, obviously the Server will >take time to load these records into different Dbspaces. How to minimize >the time taken by the server when this situation happens? Thanks Ganesh
There are quite a few tools to monitor things onstat being the basic entry
point through expensive products like BMC patrol (how best to tune your
database? Turn off Patrol). Do a google on comp.databases.informix for
monitor - I'm sure you'll find a dozen or so packages.
Fragmentation - depends on your goal. There are generally three (that I can
think of),
- Load - use ROUND ROBIN
- Archive (business reason) - fragment by date
- Fragment elimination (access) - fragment by a commonly filtered
column.
cheers
j.
