IBM Informix on limited memory device

Hi, I'm considering IBM Informix on a limilted memory device (IoT-gateway-device) having 256 MB RAM and running (Debian) Linux. - What are the minimum (memory) requirements for running IBM Informix in an acceptable way (is 64 MB acceptable)? An IoT gateway is mainly meant to gather sensor-data. I saw there are ARM 6-7 based ports (meant for memory constrained devices like RPi) of the Informix Developer Edition. - So I suppose the regular Linux 32-bit versions (Developer Edition, Innovator-C Edition), will run on my AMD based processor IoT-gateway device? Thanks. Guy
64MB is definitely possible:

42MB in this case... But don't expect to run a home banking application on
it :)
If your gateway runs AMD and a compatible OS it should run Informix.

My email works... but I don't check it frequently...

I can't speak to minimum memory requirements running on ARM, but you cannot use the Intel Linux release of Innovator-C on ARM. You will have to contact an IBM salesperson to get the Innovator-C Edition for ARM and to talk about licensing it for distribution (it is free for you own use, but if you want to distribute the devices you build you will need to work out an OEM distribution agreement with IBM. EMail me directly if you need a contact. Art Art S. Hi, Thanks for the info. @Art My sentence was maybe confusing: my gateway has an AMD 32-bit processor not ARM. I only mentioned ARM since these are also memory constrained devices, meaning IDS probably also runs fine on an AMD with 256 MB RAM. Regards, Guy

256 MB RAM can be enough if no other memory consuming processes are running. In
addition the Informix configuration requires some tuning for low memory
devices. You can try the onconfig default values we changed for the Raspberry
Pi port:
BUFFERPOOL default,memory=auto
LOW_MEMORY_MGR 1
SHMVIRTSIZE 16384
SHMADD 16384
AUTO_TUNE 1
NUMFDSERVERS 1
VP_MEMORY_CACHE_KB 0,static
NETTYPE ipcshm,1,10,CPU

Yes, the latest Informix Version 12.10.UC4W1 should run if the AMD CPU supports
i586 or higher instruction sets.
