Re: Checkpoints not in online.log

That was it! Thank you! The thing that threw me off was that I also did this on one of our production systems and it did the same thing. Unfortunately, I hadn't looked at my watch, or I would have noticed that it was during a break period and so that system wasn't being used for a few minutes either. For the record, (and IMHO) the server should be logging every single checkpoint even if there was no work to do. The checkpoint did occur, so it should be logged. The worst offender is within onmonitor. Hey kids, try this at home: 1. Make sure that there are no changes being made to your data. 2. Go into onmonitor. 3. Force a checkpoint just to clear things out. 4. Wait a minute or so to make the time difference more obvious. 5. Force another checkpoint. This is the one that has nothing to do. 6. Tell it to force yet another checkpoint, but don't confirm it yet. 7. Notice that it looks like the last checkpoint started but never finished. 8. Look in your online.log file for the status of the last checkpoint. 9. See no record of that checkpoint completing. 10. Wonder why the checkpoint hasn't finished yet. Even if the log entry stated that the checkpoint completed with no activity it would be better than silence. --Marty In article <364369F8.F1117D98@informix.com>, jrenaut@informix.com wrote: > The key to you statement is that the system isn't being used.
