Pathname for tape drive

There isn't a standard way of checking it, unfortunately, because there isn't a standard system for describing tape drives to the system. Can you explain what you want to do a little more precisely? Just see whether what you specify is a tape drive? See whether what you specify has a tape in it? Does the solution have to port off Solaris? Do you need to find the tape drives attached to your Solaris box?
