SE is a load-and-go database engine. OnLine is an OLTP database engine, in need of a DBA. ESQL/C is a development language, which allows SQL statements to be embedded in C code. ESQL/C would access databases in either SE or OnLine. Without more info I don't know why you have two engine types. > I've been doing relational "stuff" for several years and I can get to my > data with sql but I feel the need to learn more about how we are set up > and how to manage the environment! > > Any words of wisdom or class recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Take a look at the following courses: Relational Database Design Structured Query Language Using Stored Procedures and Triggers Developing Applications Using ESQL/C Standard Engine System Administration Managing and Optimising OnLine DS Databases OnLine DS System Administration OnLine DS Performance Tuning You don't necessarily need them ALL, but this list should give you an idea of which courses to look at.
