OK, I'm assuming NT has the same error numbers as *NIX.
-1802 - Connection name in use
- You are running a program that uses multiple connections to databases.
(i.e. executed the statement "CONNECT TO x as 'name'") . The second time you
ran the connect statement, the 'name' was the same as the first, and this is
not allowed.
This is because to change connections between databases, you issue the SET
CONNECTION 'name' query, and change connections.
It is true that Informix, although MT Safe to a certain degree, cannot have
two concurrently open & active connections.

On UNIX, to turn logging on (buffered) , you can use
informix% ontape -s -B
This requires no connections to the database, and also does a level 0 backup
to TAPEDEV.
Just try ontape with no args to get the other params.....
