Here's what the doc you referenced states: "i am looking at V9 and try to figure out the equivalent command in oracle of update statistics high for table mytable(mycolumn) in informix" Note that "update statistics high" is an Informix command. You were adivced to generate a histogram. Something that can be done in a fraction of a second. And you are complaining that this is slow?
