Tomek Ignasiak got error -952 (user's password not correct) connecting via dbaccess and JDBC to IDS 7.30 on Linux. Art Kagel said CONNECT with username and password fails when the server uses shadow passwords, MD5 or PAM, and advised reverting to /etc/passwd while a fix was prepared. Bartho Saaiman suggested pwunconv. Ronald Cole asked if a fix existed for 7.30.

Hello !
I got error message
err = -952: oserr = 0: errstr = : User's password is not correct for
the database server
each time I try to connect to server by using "dbaccess"
Connection/Connect and each time when I try to
connect to database remotely through JDBC Driver (2.11)( URL is correct
- I'm sure about it )
Other activities from "dbaccess" like creating /droping databases/tables
works fine !
Mayb somebody know how can I solve this problem?
Regards
Tomek Ignasiak

Is your server running on Linux? There is a problem connecting using a
CONNECT TO statement that includes username and password if the server
is using shadow passwords, MD5, or PAM. Revert to using /etc/passwd for
now a fix is in the works.

It is a problem with that version of Informix on Linux. The get around for
the time is to disable password shadowing ( /usr/sbin/pwunconv ). It will
apparently be fix in a later release.

A fix for 7.30?
