Best Linux distro for Cheetah (and also the older versions...)
Posted in 2007
Poster asked which Linux distro to use for IDS 11 (Cheetah), after hitting trouble on Ubuntu: dbaccess complaining about the terminal and failing Java connections to the server. Replies noted IDS isn't certified on Ubuntu (so no IBM support if bundled for customers), while 9.4 and 10 were reported to run out of the box on SUSE 10.1 and CentOS 4.4. Another reply asked what $TERM/$TERMCAP were set to, hinting the dbaccess error was a terminal-setting issue, but no answer or definitive resolution is recorded.

Hi, We are planning to squeeze our Cheetah on Windows for a set of virtual systems on Linux. The core system is running Ubuntu and all the virtualized systems will be Linux's. It works fine, I have installed Cheetah on the Ubuntu box and here starts problems. DB-Access complains about terminal. We cannot connect to the server with Java (there is no firewall). So after all, I wonder if Ubuntu is a great distro for Cheetah. What would you recommend? What are you guys using? Thanks Jgp (sorry for cross posts but to get those kind of info on week-ends. ;-) )

So if you're doing this for distirbution to customers and plan to bundle IDS in, you won't be able to get IBM support.
Thanks Neil. DB2 is certifiec on Ubuntu (don't want to start a debate now). The only thing is what is a cool distro for IDS... I must admit I'd like to avoid RHEL... Is Fedora ok? It's for internal / development use, not for a production system. We don't deploy Informix (We rely on people like u). jgp > -----Original Message----- > From: informix-list-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:informix-list- > bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Neil Truby > Sent: Saturday, June 09, 2007 10:33 > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: Best Linux distro for Cheetah (and also the older > versions...) > > "Jean Georges Perrin" <jgp@jgp.net> wrote in message > news:mailman.135.1181375847.13675.informix-list@iiug.org... > >> Hi, > > We are planning to squeeze our Cheetah on Windows for a set of virtual > systems on Linux.
