Year 2000 issues HELP
Posted in 1998
First a general question : 1. There must be lots of stuff written on Y2K for Informix. Can anyone point me to any refernces (I have already looked at the Informix web site info). Then, a more specific one: 2. We have SE V5.07, 4GL / SQL V4.13. According to the Informix web site SE V5.1x, 4GL / SQL V4.2x are compliant. So a minor upgrade should give us compliance. By compliance I mean it will give me the DBCENTURY environment variable which should solve most problems provided 2 digit date information has not been hard coded and we do the other things Informix suggest like making sure the hardware and OS is compliant. Two questions then - firstly - are my assumptions about these versions solving most non hard coded y2k problems with Informix correct? Secondly, what are the migration issues in going from my current version to the compliant one? I assume this minor upgrade should be pretty straightforward - recompilation only? Certainly significantly more straightforward than going for Informix SE 7? Any comments, advice and suggestions gratefully recieved. Thanks in advance.
