They just fixed a similar problem on our 4.1.whatever running on HP-UX with NIS. Our work around before the fix was to add into /etc/passwd the user who needed to use Informix. We added the real password entry from NIS after the "+:::0" line, so that user will still login using NIS. but informix, the buggy version that is, does not understand the "+:" password syntax and read the rest of the file looking for the user. note also that "+user" does not work either, informix was looking for a exact login match without the "+" sign. worth a shot to try see if this is it. -- Sam Lok Pacific*Bell, California sslok@srv.PacBell.Com --- __o --- -\\<, The price one pays for pursuing any profession, or calling, --- (_)/(_). is an intimate knowledge of its ugly side. -- James Baldwin
