Informix DBA Is this a contract position? No Salary range: 50,000 - 80,000 This position will be responsible for designing, creating and managing Informix databases in the AIX environment. This will include development support, assisting programmers with database issues as well as supporting production databases, including backup and recovery procedures . Database performance analysis and disk utilization monitoring will also be expected duties. Please List any required experience: 2+ years experience as an Informix database administrator; knowledge of Unix/AIX operating systemAny degrees or certificates needed? No Please describe any preferred qualifications: Prefer B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related area; experience with any of the PeopleSoft modules (HRMS, GL, AM, AP, etc.) Why is the position necessary? As STS develops more and more systems utilizing the Informix RDBMS, there is a corresponding increase in the amount of effort required to both develop and maintain the database environment. As applications are deployed into a production mode, the DBA is responsible for monitoring performance, disk utilization, and availability. We did not replace a DBA who resigned in the fall. We managed workloads and did minimal proactive production monitoring to get by, primarily responding to production problems. With additional increases in demand due to the Y2K remediation efforts, we can no longer just manage the workload to accomplish all that needs to be done. Adding this person will help to meet the current demand as well as provide the resources to do much needed preventive maintenance work
