Is there anyone in the user group that has had a problem with an old version do to the leap year. It is a problem on an application and the client of mine wont upgrade and I had to change all programs that use "today" to "today -1" since it returns an extra day even if the o.s. returns the correct date. I just found out it won't go away next year. If someone has had the same problems or has a better work around please let me know. If you can assist I would appreciate it. Joseph Cusumano C.C.C. That is why everything earlier than I4GL 4.20 is no longer supported; they are known to be Y2K non-compliant. > It is a problem on an application and the client of mine wont upgrade and > I had to change all programs that use "today" to "today -1" since it > returns an extra day even if the o.s. returns the correct date. Yes; it had a blind spot about the 400-year leap year rule. > I just found out it won't go away next year. If someone has had the same > problems or has a better work around please let me know. The only sensible option is to upgrade. I4GL 1.10 has not been supported for, oh, the last 10 years or so -- maybe only 8 years. Dammit, 4.10 was released no later than 1990, and that isn't supported any more. The original 1.10.00 series was released around 1986, and the 1.10.03 series probably in 1987. We are talking seriously antique code. If your customer had been more nimble, the upgrade would have been free. Now, it probably won't be, but an upgrade is the only remotely sensible solution. Your alternative, alluded to by the Obnoxious Clown, is to tell the client that if he will not follow your advice, you are unable to continue working with him, and leave him to solve the problem which is largely of his own making. -- Yours, Jonathan Leffler (Jonathan.Leffler@Informix.com) #include <disclaimer.h> Guardian of DBD::Informix v1.00.PC1 -- http://www.perl.com/CPAN "I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it!"
I still have the Quick Reference Card for vers 1.1 but I don't remember a problem with Leap Year..In any case I didn't know anyone was still running v1.1...which is what 14 yrs old by now...
