Poster tried to set up a SQL Server 2005 linked server to Informix via the IBM Informix OLE DB provider (Ifxoledbc) and got "EIX000: (-329) Database not found or no system permission", even though the DSN/UDL test connection worked. Suggestions: the OLE DB app may be connecting as a different user than setnet32, lacking database permissions; and, more concretely, the provider's support scripts must be installed - run coledbp.sql (from %INFORMIXDIR%/etc, after doledbp.sql if needed) against sysmaster as user informix via dbaccess on the server host. No confirmation from the poster that this fixed it is recorded.

be the reason ?
can any body help. below is the error
Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "Ifxoledbc" for
linked server "LIBRARY".
OLE DB provider "Ifxoledbc" for linked server "LIBRARY" returned message
"EIX000: (-329) Database not found or no system permission.". (Microsoft SQL
Server, Error: 7303)
Did you run %INFORMIXDIR%\\\\etc\\\\coledbp.sql against sysmaster database?

How did you test the connection - setnet32 ? Which user did you use to
test the connection
It might be setnet32 does not use the same user as your OLEDB app and
this user does not have permission to access the database.

I am testing the DSN as the DSN IDE has the facility to test the connection.
Moreover i am also using a .udl file to check the connection and that is also
testing the connection correctly.
I am using the IBM informix OLEDB provider in feild of Provider while making a
.udl file.
For this you need to contact person (may be DBA) who looks after informix
database instance. In short, follow the following steps ...
1. Look for coledbp.sql file in <your CSDK Install location>\\\\etc directory
2. I assume that you are running Informix server on remote machine. So you
FTP this file to that host machine.
3. Open shell/command window/terminal which has all the environment set
for informix server. To check just run "onstat -"
4. Go to the directory where you FTPed coledbp.sql file.
5. do "dbaccess" and connect/choose to "sysmaster" database using
"informix" user.
6. Exit->Query-language->Choose. You will see "coledbp" listed their,
Choose this file and say "Run"
7. You shouldn't get any error in step 6. In case there is any error, make
sure you run the doledbp.sql (located in the same dir where coledbp.sql)
before you make another attemp to run coledbp.sql
