RE: Continuation with display statement...

yes I have the books, but what you suggest is not what Im trying to accomplish...Im starting to think it cannot be done, however I would have expected the ';' to have done it. Anyhow I want a number displayed in a for loop horizontally across the screen as in: 1 2 3 4 5...etc it seems that the display statement puts in its own return character because when you run a statement such as: for x = 1 to 100 display x ( or even display x; ) end for you will get: 1 2 3 4 etc... oh, I suppose I could come up with a method to do so many across using 'AT' (i.e. display n at x, y + 1) but what a pain that would be when I would have thought a display; would have accomplished it. but anyhow I ended up using a report function instead of wasting time about it... print xxx; <---- semi-colon seems to understand what I want while display xxx; does not. -----Original Message----- From: owner-informix-list@iiug.iiug.org [mailto:owner-informix-list@iiug.iiug.org]On Behalf Of Christian Brauer Sent: Friday, October 27, 2000 10:56 AM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: Continuation with display statement... Don't have your books aside ? Either user a semicolon to separate each item (for ... display x; end for) or use the alternative syntax of display (for ... display x at row, column end for) Hth, Chris James wrote: > How can I print a list of numbers in 4gl horizontaly across a page/screen > rather than > vertically?
