Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Julian Parro, on IDS 9.30.UC2, could not drop one of two stored procedures with the same name and got error -9700 (routine ambiguous). Rolf Wasteson explained this is routine overloading in 9.30. Paul Watson and Debbie Butler said to include the parameter data types in DROP PROCEDURE, for example name(int,int) or name(char). This resolves the ambiguity.

Hello, all:
We work with IBM IDS 9.30.UC2 and have two stores procedure with the same
name, I need to drop it, but I can't, the error is:
SQL Error (-9700):Routine (m4pr_gr_clc_hpirpf) ambiguous - more than one
routine resolves to given signature
Thanks,
Julián Parro

Hi,
it has to do with the routine overloading that the object relational
facilities of 9.30 supports. You will have to include the parameters of
the procedure also in the drop statement to instruct which of the
variants you want to drop.
Regards,
Rolf

You need to quantify the procedure with the datatypes so it knows which =
one to drop
i.e.
drop procedure m4pr_gr_clc_hpirpf(integer, integer, char);
drop procedure m4pr_gr_clc_hpirpf(char);
