I think this is in the FAQ. The last inserted serial id is contained
in the sqlca structure. In 4gl you would look for sqlca.sqlerrd[2] and
in ESQL/C you would look for sqlca.sqlerrd[1]. If you have IDS version
7.2x or better you can get this directly from SQL using
DBINFO('sqlca.sqlerrd2')

Apologies if this is a FAQ.
Is there a simple method to retrieve the serial id of a newly
inserted row from an Informix table using VB?
The code will be something like:
database_object.execute "insert into table values ....."
Do I need stored procedures or triggers to make this work?
