Re[2]: ODBC with informix

Jay Is it not possible to setup different roles for a non-ODBC and a ODBC role? The non-ODBC role could come in through a Unix login and have his login shell out directly to the application and have all the permissions or as many as required. The ODBC role could have no INSERT/DELETE/UPDATE permission since possibly the intent is for him to populate his Excel spreadsheet to run some offline analysis or something similar. When getting into the application under Unix, the ROLE could be set to the non-ODBC role and the ODBC could set role to ODBC user. I am thinking of implementing something along these lines, so I would appreciate any holes you can find in my thinking. Revoke priviledges in Informix, and they're locked out no matter what client (ODBC or otherwise) they use. Have I missed something? Jay
