Hi;
we encounter a strange problem on a strange platform ;-)
Running INFORMIX ONLINE 7.12UC3 (mips abi port) on TANDEM
NonStop-UX C20, we find that any update via a cursor
("where current of") in a cursor for update returns
_without_ updating all rows that would be affected by the
where clause of the cursor.
E.g.: Only 129 of 25000 rows are updated and the rest
remains unchanged. There is _no_ error indication of any kind,
neither in the online.log nor as a result code. The interface
returns the number of rows that were really updated, but since
we do not call a "count(*)" before, this not helpful.
If one repeates the update she/he gets exactly the same amount
of updates until some day (-O all rows are updated.
This happens from esql/c as well as from dbaccess with a sql
script. It is deterministic. All progams suffer from that problem.
(We are talking of a software package with appr. 400000 LOC.)
As usual, we reported the problem to TANDEM (they supplied the
INFORMIX port) and got only "we are working on it".
BTW: This software runs fine on other platforms, e.g. HP-UX 10.10,
SINIX 5.42, HP-UX 9.xx and (of course) ORACLE (-=
So, if anyone out there has ever heard of this or a similar behaviour,
we would appreciate _any_ help or suggestion to work around or solve
the problem.
My email address is brun@insel.de
TIA!
