It is easy to administer but does not recover automatically from failures. It does have transactions. It uses only one processor and is not parallel. Dynamic Server (OnLine) offers fast recovery, raw disk i/o, online backup, parallel operation, more than one CPU, BLOB data and lots of tuning parameters to have fun with. It is faster then SE for lots of users and big databases on multi-CPU boxes. I use SE (on SCO) so my knowledge is not complete. No doubt someone else will give you more information.
