Well there are a lot of onconfig settings to move/tune if you are going from SE 7.x to IDS 10.x. Would be used the same machine? Or there are newer hardware (Memory/Disks-San/MultiCPUs/OS,etc) ? You have to test your 4gl code, it won't be hurt by the upgrade but pay special atention on the way that null/empty strings are handled. This includes migrating them from SE to IDS 10 as well as upgrading their 4GL. Being such a large version jump in both products, I'm leery that there may be several "gotchas" in the process. Can any of you provide some things we need to look out for? Any specific advice? Also, because of our environment, we may have to transition them from RDS to compiled 4GL in addition to the version upgrade. What should we look out for there? I've never really had many issues with Informix upgrades in the past, but I've never been through this large of a leap before so I'm understandably paranoid. Unfortunately, we probably won't have the luxury of doing this incrementally but rather will have to do it in one huge swath.
