Yes - if the instances are the same except on different machines, and the machines are identical, then then logs should be able to be used on the backup machine. However --- What you are describing is a manual version of what HDR currently does automatically. I would think that turning on HDR or CDR would be a much better solution. Normally when a system suffers a machine failure, it goes down solidly. Since you are saving your logs to disk, what are you going to do if you suffer disk failure on that drive? How would you handle a memory or cpu failure? It seems to me that you would be much better off to consider HDR to set up for a hot backup environment. Is this possible ? If not, what can I do so that the Backup can function as the production ? ( I am aware of CDR but I know whether there are any other alternatives besides that) I would like to hear from those who have similar implementations also. Thanks Max Madison Pruet
