Node extensible datatype

O.K., folks... Let me demonstrate my ignorance. I am looking for documentation on the node datatype for IDS. I know that I've talked about this with several folks, and I thought I had seen some postings regarding it, but I can't find any documentation for the datatype, or how to use it. I thought it was one of the "included with your engine" datablades, but I haven't found any references to it. For those of you who have used this recently, can you tell me what manual to look in to get started? We're looking at doing XML within the database, and I don't want to have the developer just store the string as a text blob... Thanks for the help. -- Dan Michaelis
You mention Node and XML -- possibly meaning to use both together? Or perhaps I'm not understanding your post entirely. At any rate, for the Node type, you can download the bladelet from here: http://www7b.boulder.ibm.com/dmdd/zones/informix/library/techarticle/db_node.htm l Jacques Roy did a detailed writeup on Node in Chapter 2 of "Open-Source Components for Informix Dynamic Server 9.x", Jacques Roy et al., (Prentice Hall, 2002). And for XML, check out: http://www7b.boulder.ibm.com/dmdd/zones/informix/library/techarticle/0303cline/0 303cline.html http://www7b.boulder.ibm.com/dmdd/zones/informix/library/techarticle/0302roy/030 2roy2.html http://www.alphaworks.ibm.com/tech/xsltblade -jean Jean T.
