Ian, We too have had problems with certain NewEra Events. Focus-In and Focus-Out seem to be two of the most difficult to use; I use these events sparingly. One way to get an idea of how/when events are triggered is to place a display statement in the event, run the application and watch for your statement. Supertables/Superfields are a double-edged blade. They are very powerful, easy to use, and save a lot of coding effort but...other visual objects are not very well integrated with them. Whenever you wish to bind an object, such as ixTextBox or ixListBox, to Superfield logic you'll have hurdles to jump. It gets even worse when using the AFCL (much worse). There are also problems using ixTextBoxes and ixListBoxes interspersed with SuperFields...you may find that focus does not follow screen layout logic. SuperTables and SuperFields just behave differently than other objects. Until Informix addresses this problem, it's here to stay. I can think of no save all solution. My only advice would be: to thoroughly read the SuperTable/SuperField Discussions available in on-line help, stick to ixClass and stay away from AFCL (unless you find it very useful) and use SuperFields wherever possible instead of alternative visual objects. Many of the Supertable/Superfield events can be very useful if you understand when they are triggered. Read on-line help discussion and experiment. john d. > From informix-list-owner@rmy.emory.edu Tue Jun 4 14:27:07 1996 > From: iantu@mistral.co.uk (Ian Tuck) > Message-Id: <4i4796$128@news.mistral.co.uk> > Subject: Newera event processing > Date: Tue, 12 Mar 1996 13:52:17 +0000 (GMT) > Reply-To: iantu@mistral.co.uk > Organization: Mistral Internet (Brighton) > Sender: informix-list-owner@rmy.emory.edu > To: informix-list@rmy.emory.edu > X-Informix-List-To: jcdcinf@prod1.jcdc.doleta.gov > X-Informix-List-Id: <news.24581> > Content-Length: 461 > Status: RO > > We have had a lot of problems using Newera events e.g. > focusin/focusout of ixTextbox.
