HP data protector problem to backup IDS 11.70 fc1
Posted in 2013
A user running five IDS 11.70.FC1 instances on one server found that ON-Bar backups via HP Data Protector 6.11 worked for only some instances; the rest failed while backing up the critical file ixbar with "XBSA Error: (BSACreateObject) A system error occurred" and DP reporting "No resource of type 'CF' available" plus a BMA start/abort error. Suggestions included enabling all Informix resource types in the DP job (no CF option existed), launching the backup from the DP scheduler per HP's Integration Guide for IBM Applications, consulting an IBM technote on 11.7 compatibility, and checking that the DP version was identical everywhere. No resolution is recorded in the thread.

Hello. Please check your DP documentation, there is a configuration in your job specs, where you select the kind of backups allowed (there are several checkbox listed, one of them should be CF, so you´ll have to check it). Remember there is always a best practice to use two jobs in any CM, one for physical backups, and another for logical-log backups. Regards. hi, Thank for your advice.. "there are several checkbox listed, one of them should be CF, so you?ll have to check it" CF? we cannot find this option , we only have B, CD, L MR, ND and R for available informix resource type and all resource already check.. need help.. tq
Ok I just really wanted you to check all available options, like you did. Are you starting this archive from Informix server, or from DP scheduller? I recommend you to start through DP side, according to the manual entitled "Integration guide for IBM applications". Please check it out, follow the guidelines, and then maybe we could give you another tip... but it´s absolutely clear that your issue is related to DP configuration troubles, not Informix, ok? Maybe you should ask for your SM support some help, could you? Regards. Hi, ok,i already check all available option for informix. i backup through DP side, and already follow guide from HP data protector "Integration guide for IBM applications". we have 5 instance for informix, but this error (DP error) only happen at 2 informix instance, and another instance successfully backup by DP, don't know why? i try check my informix config file, but still don't have idea to solve this problem... tq for your advice..
It looks like you're using Informix 11.7 on the instances that raise the error and 11.5 on the ones it works... If that's the case, please check: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21454904 Regards On Mon, Feb 4, 2013 at 6:12 AM, MOHD FADZIL JUSOH <fadzil@isianpadu.com>wrote: > hi, > > I need your help to advice me what i get this problem... > > we try to backup informix use DP, we have 3 4 informix instance, but only > one > instance sucessfully backup with HP Data protector (6.11) > > HP data protector log: > > [Normal] From: OB2BAR@faisone "enh_shm" Time: 1/30/2013 7:38:35 PM > > Completed OB2BAR Backup: fais-dev:/enh_shm/63/5886 (logical logs) > "Informix" > > [Major] From: BSM@faisone "DB_ENH_SHM_Daily_Full" Time: 1/30/2013 7:38:35 > PM > > No resource of type "CF" available. > > Client will be aborted. > > [Major] From: OB2BAR@faisone "enh_shm" Time: 1/30/2013 7:38:35 PM > > Received ABORT request from RSM (ERR: Error starting backup/restore (BMA > cannot be started or similar).) > > Informix bar log: > > 2013-02-01 17:31:24 11040 11038 Begin backup of critical file > '/mnt2/informix/etc/ixbar.63'. > 2013-02-01 17:31:24 11040 11038 Successfully connected to Storage Manager. > 2013-02-01 17:31:24 11040 11038 XBSA Error: (BSACreateObject) A system > error > occurred. The data protector version is exactly the same in all of those instances
(not sure if you mentioned if they are on same server or different ones)?
