DBD::informix compiling trouble on Linux

Hi there, does anybody of you succesfully installed DBD::Informix on a Red Hat linux v5.X ? I'm finding the same problem everywhere: I must add -lcrypt to my makefiles because in ver 5.x libs are splitted, but this object seems to use a "perl Makefile.PL" which I don't know how to modify. Thanks in advance Gabriele

As you'd know if you'd read the README file, this isn't really the correct forum for asking DBD::Informix questions. You must be using the original release of ESQL/C with the libc5 libraries, rather than the later version which uses the glibc 2.0.7 libraries. As a result, you cannot build any ESQL/C programs out of the box -- you have to hack the esql script to automatically add -lcrypt to the command line. Again, if you'd read the README file, you'd know that if you cannot compile the test program esqlbasic.ec using the command line: esql -o esqlbasic esqlbasic.ec and if you cannot run the resulting executable successfully, then the installation of DBD::Informix will fail. So, go hack a copy of the esql script and then you will probably be fine. Or go and download the later glibc version of SE and ESQL/C. Or go and download the IDS and CSDK package. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
