ace report?

Is there a restriction on "update"ing a temporary table in the Select section of the ACE Report Writer? A "select" statement that runs fine in ISQL fails in "ace" and I can't see the syntax problem! I want to do a select to a temporary table, update the temporary table with another selected value, then do a final select for the report. The ACE compiler seems to be focusing on the "update" phrase starting after the first "select ....... into temp table" clause. Works fine in ISQL but not ACE? What am I missing?
