Hi everybody,
something bugs me.
Running the following query gives me some highly unusual numbers for 'npused'.
--------------------
update statistics ;
select tabname,nrows,rowsize,npused from systables
where tabname[1,3] != 'sys'
order by tabname
--------------------
On tables which are only growing the 'npused' is always correct.
But as soon as one record is deleted from a table, the 'npused'
for that table is not going up anymore when records are added.
In fact it continues to count down on records deleted.
Since I use my database tables to store process control data and remove
records no longer required (very dynamic system), the above query will not
give my the right information.
Is this a bug in INFORMIX and if so, what can be done about it.
I'm running INFORMIX ONLINE Ver.4.11.UC1 on a sun sparc using Solaris 2.4 os.
