COPY RIGHTS IN SIGNATURES and the "Great Satan"

OK folks! There have been a number of postings about the picky signatures on postings an email. I had a short signature until I read a posting about a month ago. That posting suggested that a company whose name we will not mention ( Oracle ), was in the habit of taking snippets of postings from anywhere and using it in their sales material. This individual was VERY unhappy since he was generally praising Informix, but in one short section he pointed out a short coming in the hopes of getting some action out of Informix. ( This is a paraphrase, if you've read the real posting, please no flames. ) In any event, he asserted that Oracle "stole" his statement and turned profit on it. Whether this is true or not, I can not state. However, it was enough for me ( after observing the zealous nature of the Oracle monitors on this group ) to add a "rights reserved" signature. I agree that this is a tragic turn of affairs. However, I always believe you should not trust a corporation ( or its parts ) any where outside the range of my handy tire iron. For those of you who did not get the insinuation, ... this means unless I can reach out and smack someone for mistreating me, I will not provide them the chance. Dear Oracle fans, please note that this was an explaination of why I use a rights reserved signature. This does not imply any wrong doing on the part of Oracle or its employees. Although this CYA statement does not mean that I think your innocent. I am just unwilling to be sued by you. So, I will just not say your guilty.
