RE: incremental onbars
Posted in 2008
Db is around 2 TB. We are using ISM and onbar. Other parts of the
business have been using Veritas SnapFlash ( I think I got the name
correct) to take disk snapshots. That is definitely an interesting
option. I plan to run an incremental onbar to see how long it takes.
Thanks

I can't imagine why it would. Perhaps as already posted, you are
hitting a bug.
You also did not mention what backup software is paired with onbar,
perhaps there is something set inefficiently in the backup software
and/or the relationship of onbar with the backup software. Work with
your backup software vendor, and network people, maybe you are getting
the best throughput you can given your total environment. And if that's
the case and not good enough, as already posted, you could look into
external backups (wherein you issue a block on informix, do some type of
OS/disk copy(i.e. EMC BCV split), then unblock informix). External
backups take only seconds depending on your OS/SAN abilities.
How big is your DB?
