Changing the locale of a DB

hi there, Database: Informix dynamic server 7.31 UC2, running on SCO Unix 5.0.5 I am investigating the possibility of changing the locale of a database from "english_uk.8859" (NLS) to "en_gb.819" (GLS). The reason for doing this is so that we can use the native ODBC driver of informix (CLI 3.30) to connect to the database (the problem with the the NLS locale is that there is no compatible client locale and the odbc driver needs that). I have run a series of test between two identical databases -a "english_uk.8859" and a "en_gb.819" databases and everything seemed to be working fine. In the databases I had 8-bit characters enabled to support Spanish/French/Greek/English characters. Is there a way of proving whether the 2 locales are compatible?
