We were executing multi-threaded applications that were doing inserts and updates to the same table concurrently. Even though they weren't ever updating the same row, we got row lock errors. Tech support said it was due to the inserts. During an insert, Informix places a "key lock" on a row that does not exist. If another process tries to insert a row, it tries to place the same key lock, resulting in the lock error. This is described in the Tutorial manual. Maybe this is what is happening to you. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeff Craig | dbINTELLECT Technologies, Inc.
