I have a prob - dbload very slow at start...

Hi everyone,
I have a problem with dbload, and I'm hoping someone can help me:
I'm reloading a table in a database after I've deleted it and updated the
statistics. The problem is that at the beginning of the load, the first 25000
rows take about 2 hours to load, and then it takes 4 minutes to load the next
325000.
I thought it might be a "one time" problem, but it consistently happens when I
load this and another table.
Let me know what kind of config info you need to know about.
Thanks,
Mike

What happens if you drop the table and re-create it?

Hi Michael
Try to edit a file to control the load and mention it in dbload command as -c !
Put in it the 'commit' at 100000 lines... and check the results.

Try increasing the EXTENT SIZE of the table when you recreate it after
the drop and before trying to reload it.

Does this table has default extent sizes? If yes, well it could be too many
extens then. As suggested by other, drop and recreate with begger extents
would be a good option but remember to create all objects depend on this
table. I would also try to disble indexes before loading data and enable after
load.
