Hi, We are doing a PoC to validate our goals using Informix Enterprise Gateway. Executing together with IBM BP, since it's a trial release. After a few days testing it, we identified a few defects and some lack of resources. Our BP is having difficults to get some answers from IBM about the following questions, which will be decisive for the acquisition: 1) There are some identified defects which directly affects our usage. We do not plan to pay for a product with defects and then wait for a fix. So, to close the deal we need the guarantees that these defects will be solved asap... How is IBM managing such situations? 2) The roadmap for this product appears to be "freeze" about new features or improvements. How is IBM managing such requests for this product? Will we buy an old product with no future plans? The version we're using, according to the BP, it's the most recent available, is that correct? IBM INFORMIX Enterprise Gateway Manager Version 7.31.UD3 (32 bits, running over 64 bits AIX) One defect identified : This is the data at the remote database (not Informix) COD_CEST DESCRICAO -------------------------------------------------------------- 0302000 Bebidas alimentares prontas a base de soja, leite 0302100 Cerveja 0302200 Cerveja sem alcool 0302300 Chope 0400100 Charutos, cigarrilhas e cigarros, de tabaco ou dos 0400200 Tabaco para fumar, mesmo contendo sucedaneos de ta 0500100 Cimento This is the same data whitin Informix, thru EGM. Cesar, as far as I know there have not been any releases or fixes to the EG product since well before the IBM buyout. Can anyone from IBM confirm? There have been fixes post acquisition but none for several years. At this time I don't believe it is a product we are focusing development resources on.
