I got this same error on Informix 7.3 TC2 using the ISM. Have you
configured your devices, volume, volume pool correctly? That was our
problem. There is a log file that gets written to when XBSA has problems.
This told us that our device was configured incorrect or not found, as I
recall. On our NT machines, it's written to
%INFORMIXDIR%\\applogs\\xbsa.messages I am not sure if a similar thing is
written on the Unix box nor if it is ISM writing it or the XBSA API.
