ISQL Forms not working after upgrade to IDS 12.10
Posted in 2016
ISQL Forms was segfaulting after upgrading to IDS 12.10.FC6WE. The issue was caused by library compatibility problems between ISQL and the new server version. Resolution: reinstall ISQL in a separate INFORMIXDIR with its original CSDK libraries, keeping it separate from the new IDS server installation, and manage PATH/environment variables carefully to use the correct version.

IDS 12.10.FC6WE
We have upgraded the Informix to Informix Dynamic Server Version 12.10.FC6WE
and it seems to be stable .
But we have an issue with ISQL forms and need some help ..
when I search in ISQL forms
I get......
Searching...Segmentation fault
Here is how I upgraded the Informix and SQL
mkdir /opt/informix2
chown informix:informix /opt/informix2
[root@imput1 opt]# cd informix2
tar xfz /root/ifx.12.10.FC6WE.LIN-x86_64.tar.gz
tar xf /opt/informix/C1F0DEN.tar (the SQL bundle was left in ~informix)
[root@imput1 informix2]# export INFORMIXDIR=/opt/informix2
[root@imput1 informix2]# ./installsql
[root@imput1 informix2]# ./ids_install
Choose all defaults except for "create a server instance".
[root@imput1 informix2]# cd etc
cp /opt/informix/etc/onconfig.ep2 .
cp /opt/informix/etc/sqlhosts .
cp /opt/informix/.cshrc /opt/informix2
su - informix
onmode -ky
mv /opt/informix /opt/informix.old
mv /opt/informix2 /opt/Informix
Any help is appreciated.

What version of ISQL do you have (not clear from the TARBALL's name)?
Versions prior to 7.51 have some library compatibility problems with the
later releases of v11.70 and all of v12.10. Either upgrade to the latest
ISQL or install ISQL in a separate directory from the engine.
Also, Tools like ISQL and 4GL should be installed AFTER the engine is
installed. I see that you installed the ISQL bwfore installing the engine
which violates this rule so, even if it is v7.51, that may be the problem.
Try reinstalling ISQL over the engine but ONLY if it is 7.51+ (earlier
versions will cause the engine to not start up if install over the engine
code).

I recently helped someone upgrading from an old to a new Informix version
and their ISQL stopped working.
The quick resolution was to reinstall ISQL in a separate INFORMIXDIR with
the original CSDK libraries that it was built with, separate from the new
IDS server.
The main trick to worry about then is ensuring that the environments are
set correctly for the programs, and that you have the right
$INFORMIXDIR/bin on your PATH for what you're trying to do.
There have been discussions about how to do this before not necessarily
recently, though. I've recommended using environment-setting shell scripts
to run the 'real' programs with the correct environment.

Does SQL Run-time have the same requirements as Informix-SQL as far as
versions and order of installation?
