Weird !!! Apache & Webdriver (IIF2000) on Linux
Posted in 2000
Ciao my friends, I've just installed IIF2000 (9.20 UC1) on a RedHat Linux ... after a few troubles. While trying to install the Apache WebDriver module I encountered a weird pitfall (I took a couple of hours trying to resolve it, and at the end I succeeded !!!). Well, I think Informix guides should get a prize, because they are all but clear (and often full of mistakes): and if you follow the instructions contained in the guide, you'll never be able to obtain what you want ... By the way, let's explain the weird thing. Well, manual says you have to edit Configuration file under Apache src/ directory. OK, but if you don't edit Configuration.tmpl you'll never configure Apache in the right way. At point 1 of the manual "Informix Web DataBlade Module Administrator's Guide" there's this written: "Add the following Informix directories to the EXTRA_LDFLAGS option of the Configuration file: -L/opt/informix/lib, etcetera, ...". Point 3 says: "Add the following libraries to the EXTRA_LIBS option: -lifxw, etc ..." By doing this, and following the other instructions and then running 'configure', Apache configure aborts on the sanity-check. Well, I freaked out for a couple of hours then I solved the problem by merging both directory info (with -L linker option) and libraries info (with -l linker option) into the EXTRA_LIBS flag. In this way 'configure' goes on and 'make' is so possible. Can you give me an answer? I'd like things to be clear and cleared !!! Sorry for my english ... Ciao -Gabriele
