If it does turn out that prototypes do need to be defined, check out the files esql_proto1 and esql_proto2 at ftp://mathcs.emory.edu/pub/informix/pub. They are collections of ESQL/C prototypes posted by Jonathan Leffler and Dave Kosenko, respectively, in October, 1992, and March, 1994, respectively, both of whom work for Informix, currently, respectfully, presumably.
